Spotlight: World Mission Day

Feb. 24 at Grace and Holy Trinity, Richmond
9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Sponsored jointly by the Commission on World Mission and the Missionary Society of Grace and Holy Trinity, Richmond, the theme of World Mission Day is “Everyone is Mission. Mission for Everyone.” Join diocesan, national and international mission experts as they share stories of their experiences and advice on successful mission projects for individuals and parishes alike.

Attendees may choose two of the following four lectures to attend:

Creative Mission Opportunities: I Want to Help . . . But do I have to Build a School?
There are many ways to be involved in world mission endeavors, such as incorporating the Millennium Development Goals. While some churches have the size and financial support to undertake large projects, other churches (and individuals) are engaged in creative mission projects on a different scale. Join diocesan Coordinator of World Mission Buck Blanchard as he discusses how you can put your heart for mission into practice, no matter what the size of your church or the depth of your pocketbook.

Mission as Partnership
The Revs. Tracy Bruce, Steven Davenport and David Cesar will discuss the importance of building a long-term relationship which complements the mission of both the guest and the host parishes. They will also discuss pursuing the mission of the Church in the context of our different cultural and political realities.

I’ve Retired and had Quadruple Bypass Surgery – How Could I be a Missionary?
Dr. Emerson Farley will describe the events that led him and his family into the decision to be involved in medical missions in Kenya and Panama, some of the uncertainties, trials and triumphs, the joys and sorrows and how his families’ lives have been changed as a result of missions.

The Mission of the Church through Music
Learn about expression the mission of the Church through music with Ronald L. Coles and the Bethel Ensemble Chorale. Participants will have a brief time of discussion but will spend most of the time singing. Learn several mission oriented songs to take back to your church or to teach others on a mission trip.
