The Diocese of Virginia contracts with Web Solutions to provide web hosting services to our churches, regions, committees, commissions and organizations at a low, monthly rate. They also offer two website design templates for churches of the Diocese. Here is a sample of a church site using a web solutions template.
The initial set up of your church site
Web Solutions estimates 5-7 hours for the initial set-up of a church's site. This price includes migration from your old site and a staff training session. At their hourly rate of $120, this translates to a cost of $600 - $840 to set up your site. After that, any special tech support, for example a page redesign or additional training, runs at $120/hour. They charge by the quarter hour, so if your task only requires 15 minutes of their time, you would be billed just $30.
The following features are standard with their church site templates:
- News Module
- Events Module (with Recurring Events Add-On)
- Contact Form Module
- Driving Directions Module
- Additional modules (donations, blog, photo gallery and more) available for a fee
- A search feature on the website
Web Solutions offers hosting for just $15/month. In addition to the template hosting services, they can also provide hosting to churches who maintain their sites statically or in a Microsoft environment for that same rate.
The Web Solutions program is a content management system (CMS). This means that no software is involved, and the program is entirely web based. Your website manager(s) can access the site from any computer connected to the Internet using their log-in information.
Hosting through Web Solutions is an option available to all diocesan churches, whether you currently host with us or are looking for a new hosting service for your website.
