Long Term Disability Through Mutual of Omaha

The Diocese of Virginia has contracted directly with Mutual of Omaha to offer a long-term disability plan. Effective January 1, 2010, this plan will now allow for either employer-paid insurance or employee-paid (gross-up) coverage.

  1. Employees must be working at least 20 hours/week
  2. Elimination Period is 90 days. Benefits begin on day 91.
  3. Monthly benefit is 60% of monthly earnings, up to a maximum benefit of $5,000 per month.
  4. Maximum Period of Benefits is determined by the age at disability and normal retirement age as determined by Social Security.

The monthly rate is $0.31 per $100 of monthly salary per month. This rate is guaranteed through 9/30/2015.
