RICHMOND, Va. - Jan. 23, 2017 – The Episcopal Diocese of Virginia (EDOV), the largest Episcopal diocese in the United States, will hold its 222nd Annual Convention from Jan. 26 – 28, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Reston, Virginia. This year’s theme is “Walk in Love.”
The Rt. Rev. Shannon S. Johnston, XIII Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia, will preside over the three-day event, delivering his pastoral address on the morning of Jan. 27. The Rt. Rev. Robert C. Wright, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta and keynote speaker, is scheduled to present his address on the same morning.
Several hundred clergy, lay delegates and invited guests are expected to attend the EDOV convention. In addition to the bishops’ addresses and a series of inspiring “Stories of the Diocese” about mission initiatives and the role of the Church, the agenda includes election of diocesan officers, discussion of proposed resolutions and the diocesan budget, and a service of Holy Eucharist.
