Capital Campaign Workshop
The effects of a well-ministered capital campaign can be transforming for a church community. Come learn how to prepare for a comprehensive campaign that includes planned giving as a vital and integral component, identify new parish leadership, expand opportunities for ministry, increase financial capacity, and deepen congregational vitality.
Our workshop facilitator is Deal Tompkins. A native of the Roanoke Valley and a graduate of Randolph -Macon College, Deal has over thirty years of experience in higher education and healthcare philanthropy. He has worked in planned giving and capital campaigns at Randolph-Macon, Sweet Briar and Emory & Henry Colleges among others. Deal retired in April, 2012 as Executive Director and CEO of the Virginia United Methodist Foundation. He now acts as a fundraising consultant primarily in the areas of planned giving and church campaigns.
Prior to joining St. James the Less Episcopal Church, Deal had been an active member of both United Methodist and Presbyterian congregations. He now lives in Ashland, Virginia.
