Dear Lay Professionals,Clergy, Spouses, and Elected Leaders of the Diocese of Virginia

The extraordinary time we have been living since March continues into fall.  We have been challenged.  We continue to be stretched.  God is making a way in the wilderness of this season and showing us possibilities we had not imagined before.

As we continue on this season of challenge, growth and possibility, I invite you to join me and my colleagues, Bishop Jennifer Brooke-Davidson and Bishop Porter Taylor, for a virtual Fall Conference.  We will gather via ZOOM on the mornings of:
Tuesday and Wednesday, October 20 and 21
                                      from 9:30 a.m. through 12 noon

We three bishops of Virginia will offer teachings and invite you to reflect with us on the theme of:
                                  Communion, Community, Conversion

Together we will explore Christ’s call to us to live faithfully in this and every time of disruption.  We will focus on our missional priorities of racial justice, creation care and evangelism as we strive to become a Church that looks more and more like the communities and world around us.

Our time will include teachings and reflections by each bishop, conversations between the bishops and small chat groups that bring you fully into the conversation.

The registration for this retreat is $12.  We invite those who are able to make a donation to Shrine Mont, where the Conference ordinarily takes place.  Your gift will help ensure that the programs there will continue after this time of disruption has passed. You may register, pay the registration fee and offer an optional donation to Shrine Mont here.

We look forward to this time together to which this year, for the first time, elected lay leaders of the diocese are also invited.  We hope that the participation of some of our Regional Presidents, Standing Committee members and Executive Board Representatives will enrich our conversations and learnings.

I look forward to seeing you on the small screen in October.

Faithfully yours,

The Rt. Rev. Susan E. Goff, Bishop Suffragan and Ecclesiastical Authority
