During the American Revolution, Loyalist clergy kept their vows to the King and to the Church. They preached in fear of Patriot mobs or fled the Colonies. Meanwhile, Patriot clergy preached freedom, refused to pray for the King, and served as chaplains in the Continental Army. They committed treason. What side would you have taken? Presenter Kevin Laskowski will examine the history and theology of American independence.
In an interactive tavern session, we’ll decide for independence or loyalty before enjoying a Colonial-inspired dinner. Finally, we’ll worship, according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Join the Revolution!
