The Standing Committee of The Diocese of Virginia has announced that it received no petitions to nominate additional persons for Bishop Coadjutor of Virginia by the published deadline of December 6.

The Standing Committee had established procedures for petition nominations last summer, to provide members of the Diocese the opportunity to place in nomination persons in addition to those selected by the Nominating Committee.

As announced earlier this year by the Standing Committee, there will be no nominations from the floor during the Diocese’s Annual Council, January 26 and 27, 2007, in Richmond. This ensures that all nominees have undergone the required background checks and canonical examinations, and have participated in forums to be held throughout the Diocese in January.

The nominees, in alphabetical order, are:

  • The Rev. Dr. Robert S. Dannals
  • The Rev. Gay Clark Jennings
  • The Very Rev. Shannon Sherwood Johnston
  • The Rev. Canon Irwin Morgan Lewis, Jr.
  • The Rev. Caroline Smith Parkinson

Additional information about the nominees is available at www.virginiabishop.info.

Members of the Diocese will have the opportunity to meet the nominees at forums scheduled during the week of January 7 at the following locations. Please note that some of the following times are different from those previously published.
