Listening Events for Bishop Coadjutor

The Nominating Committee for the election of the Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese of Virginia has scheduled a series of listening events (listed below) around the Diocese to collect information from the members of the diocese to produce an accurate profile of the Diocese. During each of these events, participants will receive an overview of the process for the election of a bishop coadjutor, meet members of the Nominating Committee, engage in a small group discussion and complete a written survey. The Committee’s objective is to construct a composite description of the Diocese, so the participants should not expect that their specific statements will appear in the profile.

Please review the following discussion questions as preparation for the discussion groups during the listening event. You might find it helpful to jot down some notes in order to facilitate the process.

  1. What do you value and respect in the Diocese of Virginia?

  2. What is the role of the bishop in the church today?

  3. What qualities/characteristics would you like to see in our next bishop?

These events will last approximately 2 hours. Although target groups are indicated for each event, all events are open to any member of the Diocese of Virginia. The Committee asks that your participation be limited to only one event. Additional listening events are being planned and you are encouraged to check back here periodically. If you plan to attend an event, please contact Jaime Laugelli, Assistant to the Nominating Committee, at jlaugelli@gmail.com and let her know which event so proper arrangements can be made.
