Spotlight: South African Partnership
The Commission for South African Partnership (CSAP) seeks to foster and deepen relationships between the people of the Diocese of Virginia and the Diocese of Christ the King, South Africa.
In the 16 years of partnership, there have been over 20 exchanges of lay teams and clergy between our two dioceses. In addition, several churches in our diocese have formed one-on-one partnerships with companion churches, and the ECW South African Partnership Committee has spearheaded the support of their key outreach ministries such as the HIV/AIDS ministry, cottage business development, and more.
Your church can be involved too! On Saturday, September 30th, the CSAP is sponsoring an “Ubuntu” conference as a great to way for you and your congregation to learn more about South Africa and how you can help make a difference in a country growing in faith and freedom, but ravaged by HIV/AIDS, massive unemployment, and growing urbanization.
“Ubuntu: A South African Day of Learning” will take place September 30th at St. Philip's Church, Richmond from 9:00 - 2:15. Our keynote speaker is The Rev. Martha Macgill who spent three years serving in the Diocese of Christ the King. We will also be watching and discussing the acclaimed HBO film “Yesterday.” Registration is $15, including lunch. Conference flyers and registration can be found here (.pdf) or by calling Gladys Lewis at 804-321-1266.
