Haiti Young Adult Trip

In February 2011, a diocesan-wide group of young adults travelled to Haiti, ultimately forming a partnership with the AJSB/Association des Jeunes Saint Basil e Le Grand des Gonaives (the youth/young adults of St. Basil le Grand church in Gonaives, Haiti). 

We are currently planning and accepting applications for our next trip, scheduled for March 30-April 6, 2012. Part of our trip is to fund an 18-month English language workshop for the young adults of the church, which has already begun. During our trip in 2012, we will also be funding three classrooms for adjoining school of St. Basil le Grand.  Our trip and overall ministry goals are as follows:

• Build and form relationships with the young adults of St. Basil le Grand in Gonaives, Haiti
• Fund and support projects that will help the community of St. Basil le Grand, specifically (for our 2012 trip) an English speaking workshop and three classrooms for the school.
• Learn about the people, culture, and spirituality of Haiti through experience and our continued relationships
• Grow spiritually through purposeful action, reflection, and prayer
